Wireframing the full site, not just one page
A homepage wireframe alone tells you almost nothing about whether the rest of the site holds together. We wireframe the full sitemap first — homepage, service pages, about, contact, and anything else on the list — so structural decisions get approved before visual design starts on any single page. Catching a navigation or content-hierarchy problem at the wireframe stage costs an afternoon of revisions. Catching it after twelve pages are fully designed costs a lot more.
Building a small design system before individual pages
Before designing individual pages, we build a compact system: a color palette, a type scale, button and form styles, and a small set of reusable layout components. Once that system exists, individual page design moves faster and stays visually consistent, because we’re arranging established pieces rather than inventing new styling decisions on every page. A ten-page site designed without this step tends to visibly drift by page seven — slightly different spacing, a button style that snuck in differently, headings that don’t quite match.
What a developer actually needs from a design handoff
A design file that looks finished in Figma isn’t automatically buildable. We hand off files with spacing values, exact hex codes, font weights, and exported image assets specified directly in the file, plus notes on interactive states — what a button looks like on hover, what happens when a form field has an error — that don’t show up in a static screenshot.
This matters even more when the build happens through our own website solutions team, since a clean handoff is what keeps design intent from getting lost during development.
Designing for every breakpoint, not just desktop
Designing a page at desktop width and assuming it’ll “just work” smaller is how mobile visitors end up with cramped text and buttons too small to tap accurately. We design desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts individually for every page, since the right layout at each size is often genuinely different — a three-column feature section on desktop usually needs restructuring, not just narrowing, to work well on a phone screen.

How many rounds of revisions are actually included
A standard project includes two rounds of revisions on the full design, built into the project cost rather than billed separately. That’s typically enough to address layout adjustments, content changes, and stylistic preferences once the design’s been seen applied across real pages. Requests beyond that scope — a full direction change after the system’s already built out — get scoped as additional work, flagged clearly before starting it.
Pairing this with a specific platform build
Most clients order design and development together, and when that’s the case, the design phase directly informs which platform makes sense — a design full of custom interactive elements points toward custom development, while a straightforward content-driven design fits cleanly on WordPress. If design is being ordered alone because a developer’s already in place, we’ll still ask what platform they’re building on, since designing without that constraint in mind can create avoidable friction later.
